Animal Shelter
The Truth or Consequences Animal Shelter provides temporary care for animals while working to reunite lost pets with their owners and place adoptable animals in permanent homes.

Animal Control
Animal Control officers respond to concerns involving animal safety, welfare, and compliance with city ordinances. This service is coordinated through Code Enforcement and serves Truth or Consequences and surrounding communities.

Responsible Pet Ownership
Residents play an important role in keeping the community safe and animals healthy. Key requirements include:

  • Pets must be licensed within city limits
  • Households are limited to a set number of animals unless permitted
  • Animals must not create excessive noise or disturbances
  • Pets must be properly contained and not allowed to roam
