City Manager Gary Whitehead

Gary Whitehead serves as City Manager for the City of Truth or Consequences, bringing decades of leadership experience in public service, business, and community development. A lifelong resident of Truth or Consequences, Whitehead is deeply connected to the community and committed to preserving its unique character while helping position the city for a strong and sustainable future.

Whitehead holds a degree in Business Administration and has dedicated much of his career to serving the people of Sierra County. Prior to becoming City Manager, he served as both a Sierra County Commissioner and Sierra County Manager, where he gained extensive experience in government operations, budgeting, infrastructure planning, and public policy.

In addition to his public service, Whitehead owned and operated several local businesses for more than 30 years. His experience as a business owner provided firsthand insight into the opportunities and challenges facing local employers, entrepreneurs, and working families throughout the region.

As City Manager, Whitehead oversees the day-to-day operations of municipal government, working closely with the City Commission, department directors, employees, and community partners to deliver essential services and advance strategic initiatives. His leadership emphasizes fiscal responsibility, transparency, customer service, and long-term planning that benefits residents today and for generations to come.

Known for his practical approach and commitment to community engagement, Whitehead remains focused on strengthening city services, supporting economic development, investing in infrastructure, and maintaining the high quality of life that makes Truth or Consequences a special place to call home.
