Assistant City Manager Traci Alvarez
Traci Alvarez serves as the Assistant City Manager and Community Development Director for the City of Truth or Consequences. In this role, she helps oversee community development initiatives, planning and zoning activities, capital improvement projects, grant administration, and strategic efforts that support the City's continued growth and success.
After relocating to Truth or Consequences from Alaska, Alvarez joined the City more than 14 years ago and has built a career rooted in public service and a commitment to the community. Throughout her tenure, she has served in several departments, including Water/Wastewater and Solid Waste, gaining firsthand experience in the essential services that residents rely on every day.
Her progression through multiple areas of municipal government has provided a broad understanding of City operations and the challenges facing local communities. That experience has helped shape her collaborative leadership style and her ability to connect long-term planning goals with the practical needs of residents and City departments.
In 2021, Alvarez served as Acting City Manager during a leadership transition, demonstrating her dedication to the organization and the community. She was subsequently appointed Assistant City Manager, where she continues to work closely with city staff, elected officials, residents, and community partners to advance projects and initiatives that enhance quality of life in Truth or Consequences.
Today, Alvarez remains focused on responsible growth, infrastructure investment, and preserving the character of the community while helping position Truth or Consequences for a strong and sustainable future.
