Start Utility Service

Residents and businesses can start water, wastewater, solid waste, and electric service through the City of Truth or Consequences. All City‑provided utilities are billed together through a single monthly account for convenience.

Note: The City does not provide natural gas. For gas service, contact New Mexico Gas Company separately.

Utility Service Setup
Service typically begins within 1 business day after all required documents and fees are submitted. To start service, bring the following to the Utility Office:

• Property address
• Photo ID
• Social Security proof or second Photo ID
• Rental documentation (owner permission letter notarized lease)
• Credit letter or deposit

Connection Fees
A connection fee of $19.09 for electricity and $19.09 for water will be added to your first bill. If you will not be present during turn‑on, please make sure the main breaker is turned off and all water taps are closed. These steps help prevent damage, flooding, or unsafe conditions when service is activated.
