Temporary Service Suspension

Residents may request a temporary suspension of utility services when a property will be vacant for an extended period. Suspension options allow you to reduce billing while keeping essential systems safe and ready for reconnection.

Suspension Options
You may choose one of the following:

• Full Disconnection All City‑provided utilities are turned off. There is no fee to disconnect, but standard reconnection fees apply when restoring service.
• Electric/Trash Suspension Electric service and solid waste collection are temporarily stopped, while water and wastewater remain active. Minimal billing continues for the active services, and a reconnection fee applies when electricity is restored.

Request Suspension
Contact the Utility Office at (575) 894-6671 to request temporary suspension. Staff will confirm your account details, schedule the suspension date, and explain any applicable reconnection fees.
