Animal Shelter

The Truth or Consequences Animal Shelter plays a vital role in supporting both animals and residents throughout the community. The shelter provides a safe haven for lost, abandoned, and surrendered pets, ensuring they receive proper care, medical attention, and an opportunity for adoption into loving homes. By offering adoption and foster programs, the shelter helps reduce pet homelessness and gives animals a second chance at a happy life.

The shelter also encourages community involvement through volunteer opportunities and donation drives, allowing residents to directly impact the well-being of local pets. By promoting humane treatment and pet safety, the Truth or Consequences Animal Shelter strengthens the bond between animals and the people who care for them.

Beyond caring for animals, the shelter works closely with Code Enforcement, a division of the Police Department, to address concerns about domesticated animals within city limits. This includes enforcing pet licensing requirements, responding to reports of stray or neglected animals, and educating the community on responsible pet ownership. Pets living in city limits are required to be licensed.
