Our mission is to maintain a safe and secure environment for all citizens. We are dedicated to building trust within the community, ensuring that everyone feels protected and valued. Through active engagement and transparency, we strive to uphold justice, listening to the concerns of our residents, and working collaboratively to foster a safe community for future generation.

All members of the Truth or Consequences Police Department believe in the responsibility of our police, governmental bodies and citizens to improve Truth or Consequence’s quality of life and defend our community. Officers have taken an oath of office and vowed to protect our citizen’s lives, property and rights, fairly enforce the laws of the City of Truth or Consequences, the State of New Mexico and the Constitution of the United
States.

Working together with all of the citizens of our community, we will work to maintain order, reduce crime and the fear of crime through education, prevention, and enforcement to provide safe environment and proud society.

Meet Chief Tavizon

A proud New Mexico native, Chief Tavizon joined
the Truth or Consequences Police Department in 2022, bringing with him more than two decades of law enforcement experience. Throughout his career, he has held numerous leadership positions, including Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and currently Chief of Police.

He holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration and is a certified Master Law Enforcement Instructor through the New Mexico Department of Public Safety. Chief Tavizon went on to earn a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Law, Public Safety,
Corrections, and Security, graduating magna cum laude.
