Interpretive signs along the route explain the area's role in the history of El Camino Real and the importance of Point of Rocks as a landmark for settlers, traders, missionaries, and other travelers crossing the desert.

Visitors may also observe desert wildflowers, native shrubs, rabbits, lizards, hawks, ravens, and other wildlife adapted to the arid environment.

Getting There
Point of Rocks is located southeast of Truth or Consequences along Sierra County Road A013 (Upham Road). The trailhead includes interpretive exhibits and a small parking area managed as part of El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro National Historic Trail.
